Less is More - recipe challenge with wire

Less is More are doing a recipe challenge this week - a CAS (clean and simple) card using wire (real, stamped, stencilled or otherwise).

I was inspired to make a shape out of wire when I came across this incredible gecko by artist Patricia Callegari. Wow! I knew I wasn't going to achieve anything like that without a few years of dedicated practice, so I downgraded my plans in order to meet the one week deadline ;-)

I finally settled on making a leaf. I knew I wanted a very rustic, "naïf art" feel that could look like it had been scribbled or doodled in wire rather than immaculately shaped. Boy, did this turn out to be lucky! Wire is HARD to work with! I now know that an immaculate shape would NOT have been achievable for me right now!

Here's the card, with ingredients details below:

Materials used:

Linen cardstock
Distress Ink - Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss
Versamark
Clear embossing powder
Fern stamp (make unknown)
Foam tape
0.6mm jewellery wire
Precision nib Tacky Glue

Thanks so much for stopping by, and if you'd like to play along with the Less is More weekly challenges, do take a look at their blog here.

  2. Bravo! That pesky wire Can be difficult to work with, but you have made an awesome leaf.
Your blending on the background is superb and the embossing adds that little bit of extra interest.
