Less is More week 291 - sticky label

Hi everyone and welcome to another fun challenge with Less is More, the clean and simple challenge blog!

This week we'd like you to make a CAS (clean and simple) card that features a sticky label, stickers or peel-offs. There are so many possibilities for this, so put your creative hats on and get crafting!

Card 1

This little dragon is too small to breathe fire so he's produced a puff of smoke instead! But he's dreaming of the day he becomes a big dragon and manages proper flames. The smoke is stamped and die cut from a sticky label. This worked so well as it has less dimension than a die cut from card stock, but still stands out more from the background than direct stamping would have.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies
My Favorite Things Magical Dragons stamp and die sets (dragon and smoke)
My Favorite Things Magical Unicorns stamp set (sentiment)
Sticky inkjet printer label
Neenah Solar White card stock
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Promarkers
Sakura Pigma Micron 03 black pen

Card 2

This card uses sticky labels for the clouds, which added a soft semi-translucent feel that I wouldn't have achieved with card stock.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders dies
Sticky inkjet printer label
Avery Elle Pierced Clouds dies
Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layer dies
Neenah Solar White card stock
My Favorite Things Magical Unicorns
Distress Ink in Broken China
Memento Tuxedo black ink
Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink
Promarkers
Ranger Perfect Medium Embossing pen (bullet tip)
Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in silver
Wink Of Stella clear shimmer pen

Card 3

This card uses peel-offs as a background. To avoid the bright sparkle of the stripes looking garish, I decided to keep the rest of the card monochrome using first, second and third generation stamping in StazOn Stone Grey ink. Yes, I cleaned my stamps very quickly afterwards! My MISTI was invaluable for accurate stamping with the multi-step orchid stamp.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Craft Creations peel-offs (633)
Hero Arts Color Layering Orchid in a Pot stamp
StazOn Stone Grey ink
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Clearly Besotted A Little Sentimental

  1. That's a great idea for less dimension on your die cuts, Esther. Loving those stripes with the monochrome design. Not seen that orchid layering stamp before but it looks fab in greys. Oh, and your new blog design looks fantastic! xx

    1. It came out about 18 months ago I think. I only got mine recently and it's been brilliant. No more wonky sentiments, patchy stamping or misaligned layered stamps! Hurray!

  14. Two sweet cards and an ultra elegant one. They're all beautiful, but the third one is very inspiring in the way you kept the image neutral and toned down. I think peel offs can look great used this way.

  16. Hats off to you again Esther! What amazing makes you've created this week. The little dragon is a real cutie and the unicorn is so sweet and both the sticker elements on those cards are superb. However, that classy orchid with the brilliant peel off stripes is the winner fro me in this selection; it is glorious. Sorry I am so late visiting .... we've had an incredibly busy week with our friends visiting us and no time for blogging.
