Less is More week 300 - festivals and celebrations

Hi everyone, it's Saturday and that means another challenge with Less is More, the clean and simple challenge blog! This week is special... it's our 300th challenge!
Wow! Appropriately, we'd like you to make cards with the theme of festivals and celebrations. We're joined this week by Julie Beech of Handcrafted with Jules as our guest designer. Welcome, Julie! Do stop by her blog to leave some comment love.

I decided to use this as a chance to get a few more Christmas cards made.

Card 1

I stamped and silver heat embossed the sentiment, splattered some watered-down silver pigment ink over it and then added a strip of silver metallic card stock to the left side with a strip of holly designer paper over that. The whole panel was then mounted on a card base.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm card stock
My Favorite Things Hand Lettered Christmas
Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink
Ranger super fine detail embossing powder in silver
Tsukineko Encore Ultimate Metallic Silver pigment ink
Silver metallic card
Holly DP from Wild Rose Studio "Annabelle's Christmas"

Card 2

This card involved a lot more die cutting! A frame, three hills, a traditional lamp post and smaller circles to represent rings of light were mounted on a card base. I slipped a small circle coloured with Promarkers in Sunflower (inner ring) and Yellow (outer ring) behind the rings of light. The lantern was coloured with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens, and a sentiment was stamped using my MISTI.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm card stock
Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Square Stackables
Lawn Fawn Stitched Hillside Borders
My Favorite Things Streetlights
My Favorite Things Stitchable Dot Circle STAX
My Favorite Things Merry Everything (sentiment)
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Promarkers in Sunflower and Yellow
Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens in Yellow and Bright Yellow

As always, the rest of the DT have made some gorgeous cards to inspire you so do take a look at the Less is More gallery and their own blogs where there is often some extra cards as a bonus! I do hope you'll join us on this special challenge week.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. These cards are fantastic as always Esther and what a great idea to team Christmas with our celebrate / festival challenge. Now I really need to get a wriggle on with those Christmas cards too! Love both cards but all the white on white elegance with the slightest hint of 'yellow' light on the second one creates an awesome effect. Have a fun weekend. x

  2. Wow! That white card with the amazing lamppost is awesome Esther! The dies you used to create the halo of light are fantasic. What a brilliant contemporary Christmas card. Your first card has a more traditional feel with the beautiful holly paper and luxurious silver embossing. I love the way you always come up with card that are contrasts each week. xx

  4. You are in so much trouble, Esther....I put that handwritten Christmas set in and out of my shopping basket the other day and finally left it out and now I see what you have gone and made with it!! Love your first card with the splatters and that lovely patterned paper and the clever use of die cuts on your second card is beautifully CAS and creative. Have a great weekend x
