Less is More week 291 - sticky label

Hi everyone and welcome to another fun challenge with Less is More, the clean and simple challenge blog!

This week we'd like you to make a CAS (clean and simple) card that features a sticky label, stickers or peel-offs. There are so many possibilities for this, so put your creative hats on and get crafting!

Card 1

This little dragon is too small to breathe fire so he's produced a puff of smoke instead! But he's dreaming of the day he becomes a big dragon and manages proper flames. The smoke is stamped and die cut from a sticky label. This worked so well as it has less dimension than a die cut from card stock, but still stands out more from the background than direct stamping would have.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies
My Favorite Things Magical Dragons stamp and die sets (dragon and smoke)
My Favorite Things Magical Unicorns stamp set (sentiment)
Sticky inkjet printer label
Neenah Solar White card stock
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Promarkers
Sakura Pigma Micron 03 black pen

Card 2

This card uses sticky labels for the clouds, which added a soft semi-translucent feel that I wouldn't have achieved with card stock.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Lawn Fawn Stitched Borders dies
Sticky inkjet printer label
Avery Elle Pierced Clouds dies
Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layer dies
Neenah Solar White card stock
My Favorite Things Magical Unicorns
Distress Ink in Broken China
Memento Tuxedo black ink
Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink
Promarkers
Ranger Perfect Medium Embossing pen (bullet tip)
Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in silver
Wink Of Stella clear shimmer pen

Card 3

This card uses peel-offs as a background. To avoid the bright sparkle of the stripes looking garish, I decided to keep the rest of the card monochrome using first, second and third generation stamping in StazOn Stone Grey ink. Yes, I cleaned my stamps very quickly afterwards! My MISTI was invaluable for accurate stamping with the multi-step orchid stamp.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Craft Creations peel-offs (633)
Hero Arts Color Layering Orchid in a Pot stamp
StazOn Stone Grey ink
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Clearly Besotted A Little Sentimental

Thanks card

I decided to CASE this inspirational card by the amazing Therese Calvird at Lost in Paper. Isn't it a beauty?

Here's my version.

I kept the background stamping quite soft by doing second generation stamping in grey ink (see below). An ombre inked sentiment popped up on fun foam, a contrasting black sentiment and five clear adhesive gems completed the look.

Second generation stamping

For those of you who haven't yet come across this, it's where you ink up your stamp, then stamp it off once onto scratch paper and then stamp it again onto your project. The first stamping removes much of the intensity of the ink, softening the original colour. It's great for making an unobtrusive background. The ink I used is a dark grey and would have made the background too busy for my liking if I'd used first generation stamping. Second generation stamping is also a fantastic technique to use for creating distance. For example, you can stamp a tree in the foreground of your project and then stamp again to one side, overlapping slightly, and a bit higher up. This creates the illusion of a tree that's further away in the distance. Repeat this a few times and you have a forest! This technique works with all sorts of stamped images so have a play with it and find out how it could work for you.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Kaisercraft Butterflies stamp set (CS854)
StazOn Stone Grey ink
Altenew Thanks Die (1018)
2mm white fun foam
VersaColor pigment ink in Canary, Marigold and Orange
Mama Elephant Labeled Messages stamp set
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Papermania Adhesive Stones Silver (PMA351409)

Less is More week 290 - Exotic

Hi LIMettes :) Welcome to another exciting challenge with Less is More. This week, we'd like you to make Clean and Simple (CAS) cards with an exotic theme. I can't wait to see what you create!

Card 1

For my first card, I used various stamps and dies to create a jungle scene.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock (card base)
Kaskad card stock in "Parakeet" (green panel)
Kaskad card stock in "Bright Green" (leaves)
Kaskad card stock in "Pale Cream" (stitched rectangle frame)
Neenah Solar White card stock (stamped images)
Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle Frames dies
My Favorite Things Polynesian Paradise stamps and dies
My Favorite Things Wild Greenery dies
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Versafine Onyx Black ink
Promarkers

Card 2

This card used a single stamp plus a sentiment stamp to create a clean and contemporary card. Pineapples are really popular at the moment so I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon!

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Heavyweight black card stock
My Favorite Things Polynesian Paradise stamps and die
Lawn Fawn stitched borders die
Avery Elle Pierced Banner Layers die
Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink
Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder
WOW! Opaque Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder
Distress Ink in Mustard Seed
Promarkers

Card 3

This card uses torn Core'dinations paper from the Nostalgia range to create foamy waves on the sea, with Distress Inks for the sunset. A simple punched circle coloured with Promarkers and a palm tree on an island cut with my Black Cat Cougar finish this 'exotic scene'.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Heavyweight 300gsm black card stock
Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables dies
Core'dinations paper stack in Nostalgia
Distress Inks in Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade and Seedless Preserves (layered over the Spiced Marmalade for a richer red look)
Unknown brand tiny circle punch
Promarker in Canary
My Favorite Things Polynesian Paradise stamp set (sentiment)
3mm foam tape

Less is More week 289 - OLC French

Hello! This week, the challenge over at Less is More is to create CAS (clean and simple) cards that are one layer (OLC) with a French theme.

Card 1

For this card I did watercolour stamping for the wreath using Distress Inks onto a heavyweight card stock, blotting regularly to prevent any warping. The scene inside the wreath was created with stamping, drawing, masking and ink blending. A touch of Glossy Accents on the wine in the glass gives dimension and shine.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm card stock
Unknown brand set of French-themed stamps (grape bunch, wine glass and sentiment)
Card-io Majestix Oriental Blossom (small leaf)
Card-io Majestix Secret Garden (larger leaf flourish)
Memento Tuxedo Black ink
Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Pine Needles, Forest Moss and Tumbled Glass
Promarkers in Magenta and Cool Grey 3
Glossy Accents
Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pen in Black size SX
Uniball UM-120AC Angelic Colour white pen

Card 2

For this card I created an 'inchies' effect (actually 1.5") by die cutting a mask and blending Black Soot Distress Ink through the holes. When it was dry, I stamped and heat embossed the imagery, then added the sentiment and extra hearts.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm card stock
Black Soot Distress Ink
Unknown brand set of French-themed stamps (Eiffel Tower, ice bucket and sentiment)
Card-io Cominations Collection (hearts)
Ranger Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink pad
WOW! Opaque Bright White Super Fine Embossing Powder
Blonde Moments Embossing Powder in Festive Candy
VersaColor pigment ink in Cardinal

I can't wait to see what you create for this week's challenge!
