Seven Hills Crafts monthly challenge - September sketch

Hi everyone, hope you're having a fab weekend! I wanted to enter the Seven Hills Crafts blog challenge again. This month it's a sketch challenge.

Less is More week 294 - diamonds

Hi LIMettes, welcome to another challenge with Less is More! This week we want you to make clean and simple (CAS) cards with a theme of diamonds. Ready, steady... craft!

Here are my two takes on it.

Card 1

For this card I used Post-It notes to mask off an area of the card and heat embossed the remaining space with a Darkroom Door background stamp (DDBS006 Harlequin) in clear. I then used an embossing pen to loosely cover the clear embossing, and heat embossed again in white. I like the slight shadow effect this double embossing gives. I stamped and heat embossed and die cut a flower and stem from the My Favorite Things Funky Flowers set, and used foam pads to raise the flower and trap a twist of 0.4 mm jewellery wire underneath it. The stem was glued flat to the card. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant Labeled Messages and was stamped in VersaColor ink in Charcoal, then cut out by hand and raised on foam pads.

Card 2

This card has a galaxy background done in Distress Inks in Seedless Preserves, Dusty Concord, Salty Ocean and Black Soot. I then stamped and heat embossed a Hero Arts background stamp (CG616 Tiny Star Background) in silver. On a separate sheet of card, I printed a computer generated sentiment in a cool font called Always Here and cut the sheet down to the size I needed for my panel. The panel and galaxy background were die cut to fit each other using My Favorite Things Inside and Out Stitched Circle Stax, and then adhered to the card base.

Altenew blog hop card

Hi everyone! Just copying my third Altenew card from earlier today over to this post, as it needs its own link to be shared to the Altenew Ultimate Challenge Blog Hop. You can see all the details of this amazing blog hop on my other post. There are some prizes to be won and some great challenge blogs to explore!

I used heavyweight 300gsm card stock to repeatedly stamp the seed head from Altenew's Botanical Garden stamp set in Altenew's Crisp Dye Ink in Morning Frost. I inked up another piece of card using Distress Ink in Ripe Persimmon to create an ombre effect, and die cut Altenew's Happy die from it. I then stamped Altenew's 'birthday' from the Halftone Happy stamp set onto Colorset Light Grey card stock with Inkssentials Watermark Resist Ink, embossing it with WOW! Opaque Bright White Ultra Fine Embossing Powder. I then layered everything up onto a card base.
Good luck with your entries!

Altenew is also offering a free gift with all orders throughout September!

Loving Altenew as much as I do, I had to make a few cards for this. Their products are not only gorgeous, but also incredibly versatile.

Card 1

This card goes back to a favourite CAS layout of mine which I do repeat a lot! I used my MISTI to stamp multiple roses and leaves from the Altenew Vintage Roses stamp set using Distress Inks for the roses (Milled Lavender, Shaded Lilac and Dusty Concord) and leaf sprigs (Old Paper and Peeled Paint) and VersaColor inks for the individual leaves (Olive, Green Tea and Evergreen). These were die cut with the matching Altenew Vintage Roses dies. I then stamped the Regal Frame Stamp (DDFR003) from Darkroom Door, heat embossed it in silver and fussy cut it out. Another piece of card stock was cut with a stitched rectangle die from Lawn Fawn. Everything was layered up on a card base, and finally the Happy Wedding sentiment from the Altenew Vintage Roses stamp set was added on a small piece of card stock, curved by hand.

Card 2

One thing I think is great is that Altenew's products play nicely with other brands' products, so you can mix and match your stash to get great results. For this card, I took heavyweight 300gsm white card stock and inked it up using Distress Inks in Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers and Walnut Stain. I then stamped some leaves from Altenew's Botanical Garden stamp set and heat embossed them in copper embossing powder. I die cut Altenew's Happy die from this, and then twice more from plain card. These were glued together for dimension. Taking a new panel of card stock, I die cut the My Favorite Things Stitchable Dot Circle STAX Dienamics. I layered up this panel on a card base with a layer of Colorset Tuscan Brown card in between. The sentiment was adhered in the centre of the dot circles. I then stamped a Happy Birthday from Mama Elephant's Labeled Messages in VersaColor ink in Bark (twice) and Pinecone (once) to get the shade of brown I wanted. This was adhered over the Happy sentiment using mini foam pads.

Card 3

This card is another favourite layout. As this one matches this month's sketch challenge over at the awesome Seven Hills Crafts, I'll also be linking it up there.

Less is More week 293 - favourite flower

Hi everyone! The challenge this week at Less is More is to make clean and simple (CAS) cards that include your favourite flower. It's also one layer week so remember to keep your cards to one layer and minimal embellishments. (Guess who forgot it was one layer week and had to start again?!)

Card 1

For my first card I went right back to school! I would doodle flowers while listening in classes. Believe it or not, it helped me to stay focused and take in more info!

These flowers are from the Card-io Majestix set Sweet Birdhouse. You stamp the main flowers/leaves in one colour and then stamp the outlines in a contrasting colour, or black, deliberately mismatching the shapes for a loose, hand drawn look. You definitely don't want to use your MISTI for this!

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Lawn Fawn Simple Stitched Hillside Borders and post-it notes (for a curved mask)
Card-io Majestix Sweet Birdhouse stamps (flowers)
Lawn Fawn Jump for Joy stamps (sentiment)
Distress Ink in Milled Lavender
VersaColor inks in Peony and Boysenberry
Versafine Onyx Black

Card 2

My second card uses a vintage rose from Altenew which is one of my favourite floral sets.

I masked and stamped the rose and three leaves, using my MISTI for placement and good ink saturation. I then cut away the right hand side of the card, fussy cutting round the edge of the rose. A strip of black and silver metallic washi tape on the inside of the card emphasised the edge of the rose and echoed the silver of the sentiment.

Supplies:

Heavyweight 300gsm white card stock
Altenew Vintage Roses stamp set
VersaColor inks in Olive, Evergreen, Charcoal, Peony, Amethyst, Boysenberry and Grape
Inkssentials Watermark Resist
Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in Silver
Little B self adhesive tape in black and silver

Less is More week 292 - Peacock Feather

Hi LIMettes! It's the start of a new month of challenges, so we have another sponsor to announce! Welcome back to Happy Little Stampers, and a big thank you for their support.

This week our challenge at Less is More is to make a clean and simple card using the colours of a peacock feather.

I googled a few inspiration photos and found that I needed to incorporate light blue, dark blue, purple, gold and green. Does anyone else immediately think "Christmas!" or is it just me? Tee hee.

Just the one card from me this week, but I do like how it turned out and plan on doing a few others for later in the year.

I used Distress Inks for the tree and then sprayed it lightly with water so the ink "ran" to get a soft, feathered effect. A white pen was used for tiny snowflakes over the area within the aperture, and baubles were added to the tree.

Supplies

Arches Aquarelle hot pressed watercolour card
Sizzix Circle Framelits
Hero Arts Color Layering Christmas Tree
Distress Inks in Cracked Pistachio, Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, Iced Spruce
Sakura Souffle white pen
Ranger Super Fine Detail Embossing Powder in gold
Inkssentials Watermark Resist ink
Papermania adhesive gems (clear, coloured with Promarkers)

The rest of the DT have put together some fab inspiration cards on their personal blogs so do pop over and take a look...
